Actions on the Battlefield

Screen Layout

The elements displayed on the battlefield screen HUD are as follows.

Status Changes

Status Changes consist of buffs and debuffs. The effect and duration of a buff or debuff depends on your character’s INT stat.

Buff Types

Attack Up: Increases attack strength.
Defense Up: Increases defense.
Berserk: Only increases attack strength for melee attacks (swords), but the Bullet Circle expands and bullets consistently miss.
Hate Up: Increases the hate incurred from enemies, purposefully making you more likely to be targeted.
Hate Down: Decreases the hate incurred from enemies, making you less likely to be targeted.
Hidden (Chance of Being Detected Down): Decreases the chance of being detected.
Searching (Chance of Detecting Up): Increases the chance of detecting someone. Enables you to see through optical camouflage and detect those using the Hiding skill.
Movement Speed Up: Increases movement speed.
Gadget Boost: Improves the effects of gadgets.
Bullet Line Display Delay: Slightly delays the display of the Bullet Line for enemies, making it more difficult for them to realize they’re being fired upon.
Bullet Circle Boost: Improves the effects of the Bullet Circle.
Phantom Bullet: Maintains the Phantom Bullet effect.
Hyper Armor: Maintains character poise, preventing you from flinching when taking damage.
Invincible: Makes you invincible.
Reload Speed Up: Increases reload speed.
HP Auto-Recovery Boost: Increases HP Auto-Recovery when using an HP Recovery Shot.
HP Auto-Recovery Boost Gadget: Increases HP Auto-Recovery via the ”First Aid Kit” gadget.
Status Ailment Resistance Up: Increases resistance to status ailments.
Critical Rate Up: Increases critical rate.
Optical Camouflage: Allows you to fade into the surroundings, decreasing your visibility.
STR Up: Increases strength.
VIT Up: Increases vitality.
INT Up: Increases intelligence.
AGI Up: Increases agility.
DEX Up: Increases dexterity.
LUC Up: Increases luck.
Stat Boost: Increases the STR, VIT, INT, AGI, DEX, and LUC stats.
Quick Recharge: Significantly reduces recharge time for skills and gadgets.
Crouching Recovery: Recovers health while crouched.

Types of Debuffs

Attack Down: Decreases attack strength.
Defense Down: Decreases defense strength.

Hit Points (HP)

Shows your health via an HP Gauge. When these hit points reach zero, you’ll be downed (see page 34). You can raise your VIT stat in order to raise your maximum HP. Leveling up will also increase maximum HP. Additionally, continually crouching (see page 27) will slowly recover HP.

Medal Gauge

Medals can be earned by carrying out certain actions in combat. Doing so fills the Medal Gauge and increases all party members’ stats.

Weapon Arts Gauge

If you’ve learned special techniques known as Weapon Arts, the Weapon Arts Gauge will charge when the Medal Gauge reaches at least 50%. Once the Weapon Arts Gauge has filled up to 100%, you can unleash a Weapon Art by pushing the and buttons at the same time.


In Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, players can move using the following methods.

Walking and Running (Run & Gun)

You can move your character by tilting the left stick. Tilt the left stick slightly in order to walk or fully tilt it in order to run. If the gear weight limit has been exceeded, movement speed will be significantly reduced. This limit can be raised by increasing your STR stat. Weapons can also be used while running through a battlefield or dungeon, which is known as ”Running & Gunning.” When Running & Gunning while retreating, your character will move backwards as they shoot at the target.


Press and hold the left stick while tilting to dash. Ending a dash will trigger a stopping animation, during which you’ll be temporarily unable to perform any actions.


Press the button on the battlefield or in a dungeon to jump.


Press the button on the battlefield or in a dungeon to quickstep. Tilt the left stick while quickstepping to dash. Quicksteps are useful for creating distance between you and the enemy or for avoiding continuous fire.

Rolling (Dodging)

Press the right stick while moving or crouching to do a forward roll. With good timing, a roll can help you dodge any attack, but you’ll be left open to a counterattack for a moment after using it, making it more suited for dodging individual attacks.


Press the right stick to crouch. While crouching, your health will automatically recover. Tilt the left stick while crouching to move in a crouched position. When crouched, the Bullet Circle also becomes smaller, making your shots more accurate.

Using Weapons

Press to attack with the equipped weapon. Keep in mind, however, that you’ll be unable to attack if you have zero ammo or if the weapon overheats.
The following information below explains how to read weapon data.

Weapon Data

Ammo Clip: Shows the maximum amount of ammunition you’ll replenish a weapon with when you reload.
Firing Mechanism: Shows the weapon’s firing mechanism (refer to the chart on the right).
Bullets: Shows the type of ammunition required to use the weapon.
Weight: Shows the weight of the weapon.
Effective Range: Shows the maximum distance the weapon can be fired from and still inflict damage.
Rate of Fire (RPM): Shows how much ammunition will be shot if fired continuously for 60 seconds.
Accuracy: Shows how accurate shots fired will be by rank, ranging from E to A+.
Memory Chip: Shows the Memory Chips attached to the weapon.

Required Stats

Shows the stat values required to equip the weapon.

Firing Mechanisms

Semi Auto: One press of the trigger button fires one bullet. These weapons offer both high firepower and accuracy, but have a poor rate of fire.
Full Auto: Enables you to fire continuously as long as the trigger button is held down. These weapons offer a great rate of fire, but just don’t expect too much in terms of firepower and precision. If you’re aiming for a weak spot, remember to crouch and aim first to compensate for these weaknesses. Full-auto weapons will eat through your ammo, so be sure to keep one eye on your clip at all times.mes.
Double Burst/Triple Burst: One press of the trigger button fires two or three bullets in quick succession. These weapons strike the balance between firepower, accuracy, and firing rate, making them perfect for players with a reliable aim.
Bolt Action: One press of the trigger button fires one bullet, but after each bullet is fired, the bolt must be drawn back manually to load the next one. These weapons offer extremely high firepower and precision, but are incapable of rapid fire. Only sniper rifles employ this firing mechanism.
Pump Action: Enables you to fire continuously as long as the trigger button is held down, but after each round is fired, the pump handle must be drawn back manually to load the next one. These weapons offer both high power and a high firing rate, but take a long time to reload. Only shotguns employ this firing mechanism.

Swords (Photon Swords)

These powerful weapons can only be used to attack from close range. Swords have their own unique skills known as ”sword skills.” The Gun & Sword combat style, which allows you to wield both a gun and sword, can be learned from Kirito by increasing your affinity with him and triggering a special event. You will, however, need stats twice as high as listed for both weapons. With a few exceptions, both sword skills and handgun skills can be used in the Gun & Sword style.

The Bullet Circle and Circle Frame

When on the battlefield or in a dungeon, if you have a weapon equipped, the Circle Frame will be displayed in the center of the screen (Assist Mode can be turned on or off and the Circle Frame can be turned on or off by pressing the up directional button). If an enemy enters the Circle Frame, the Bullet Circle will be displayed, within which your bullets will shoot when you press the Fire button. The size of the Bullet Circle and Circle Frame will vary depending on the gun type.

Switch Aim

The location of the reticle (left/right) can be changed by pressing the left directional button. If there are multiple enemies within the reticle, moving the camera with the right stick will focus the reticle on the enemy closest to center.

Switching and Putting Away Weapons

Up to two weapons can be carried at once. The equipped weapon can be switched by pressing the right directional button. Press and hold the right directional button will put away the equipped weapon.


Reloading is where you insert new bullets into a weapon. Press the button to reload. If you are out of ammo, the Fire button can also be used to reload. But be careful. While you’re reloading, you’ll be a sitting duck, unable to attack or dash. Each weapon’s loading time is different, but you can speed things up with skills or by raising your AGI stat. When using the Gun & Sword combat style, reloading is performed differently (see page 4).

Precise Shooting

Press to enter Aim Mode. While aiming, the Circle Frame will disappear, the Bullet Circle will appear in the center of the screen, and the screen will zoom in, allowing you to fire more precise shots. Crouching while aiming will cause the Bullet Circle to shrink further. Keep in mind, however, that running and dashing cannot be performed while aiming.

The Bullet Line

Bullet Lines are red lines that can sometimes be seen emitting from enemies that indicate the trajectory of their bullets. When they appear, it’s a sign that the enemy is about to fire, giving you a brief window of opportunity to hide behind cover or move around to evade their fire.

The UFG (Ultimate Fiber Gun)

The UFG is a special device that can transport you to distant locations in a hurry. In addition to using it for transportation, it can also be used to attack.
Press and hold to display the UFG’s dedicated reticle, then aim using the right stick, and release to fire. If the reticle is green, the UFG transport you to the location seen in the reticle. If it’s red, it will deal damage to the enemy inside in the reticle. If it’s orange, it can be used to steal an item.

Moving with the UFG

Shooting the UFG at walls and other surfaces will swiftly pull you toward the point of impact. Press the button after firing to cancel movement.

UFG Contraptions

Some contraptions found in dungeons can only be activated by using the UFG. They can be switched on simply by aiming the UFG directly at them and firing.

Downing Enemies with the UFG

The UFG can also be used in combat. While hitting an enemy with it will deal a small amount of damage, more importantly, it’ll also down some types of enemies, giving you an opportunity to quickly dish out lots of damage.

Stealing Items with the UFG

Once an enemy is downed with the UFG, you can fire the UFG at them again to steal an item. Be careful where you aim, though. Firing the UFG at the wrong part of an enemy will result in a failure to steal any items at all.

Attack Types

There are four different types of attacks: physical, optical, explosive, and melee. Some enemies are weak against certain attack types, but resistant to others. Furthermore, depending on how you attack and what skills you use, you can even employ two or more types.

Attack Type Details

Physical: The attack type of projectile guns. These attacks are effective against most enemies, but are particularly effective when aiming for soft parts of their bodies. However, inflicting significant damage to hardened parts is more difficult.
Optical: The attack type of optical guns. These attacks are useful in PvE battles and can damage hard parts. However, damage from these attacks is limited in PvP combat due to the proliferation of anti-optic defensive fields.
Explosive: The attack type of launchers and grenades. These attacks can inflict significant damage to hard parts of enemies that are difficult to damage with other attack types.
Melee: The attack type of swords and certain skills. These attacks deal reliable levels of damage, even against hard parts.


As a general rule of thumb, optical attacks are effective against NPC enemies, so remember to use optical guns when fighting them. GGO’s players, however, use anti-optic defensive fields that protect against optical-type damage, so projectile attacks are far more effective when fighting against actual players.

Skills and Gadgets

Using Skills and Gadgets

Skills are special abilities that you and your ArFA-sys can learn for different weapon types. Equipping learned skills from the Terminal Menu will allow you to use them on the battlefield and in dungeons. Likewise, equipping acquired gadgets from the Terminal Menu will also allow you to use them on the battlefield and in dungeons. You can switch between skills and gadgets by pressing the down directional button..
Skills and gadgets can be used with + button, + button, + button, and + button.

Weapon Arts

Weapon Arts are special techniques that can be used with GGO’s various weapon types. They can be learned by acquiring information from Argo. During combat, the Weapon Arts Gauge will begin to charge once the Medal Gauge reaches at least 50%. Once the Weapon Arts Gauge is completely full, press and together to unleash your Weapon Art.
The more the Medal Gauge charges, the more the Weapon Arts Gauge charges. The gauge also charges a little when you acquire medals.

Party Commands

Party Commands are orders that you can issue to your allies in combat. There are eight types of commands, which can be displayed by pressing the touch pad button.

Party Command Types

Act Freely: Allies act of their own accord, but will generally follow you. This command is activated upon entering a battlefield.
Rendezvous On Me: Allies gather at your location. Once your allies have reached you, they’ll fight by your side. This command is useful when your party gets split up or when you want to buff everyone at once.
Prioritize Healing: Allies focus on using skills to heal, revive, and cure status ailments, but they attack less frequently. If an ally is down, your party will make reviving them a priority. Allies without healing skills will still attack, but at a reduced frequency than normal.
Focus On My Target: Allies will target the enemy you last attacked and will also do their best to aim for the same body part. This is the most aggressive of all commands.
Stand By & Counter: Allies hold their position and fire on any enemy that comes in range, continuing to do so until they receive further instructions. This command is useful for getting allies to stay where they are while you go do something else.
Prioritize Support: Allies will focus on using support skills if they have them. Outside of battle situations, allies will stick close by the party leader and cast plenty of area buffs. During battle, they’ll shoot buff bullets at other party members.
Do Not Attack: Allies will stop attacking and follow you instead, with each party member behaving according to their individual role. This command comes in handy when you encounter a strong enemy that you don’t want to aggravate.
Stand By: Allies will hold their current position and won’t fire back if attacked.


When one of your party members earns a medal on the battlefield or in a dungeon, you can press the button to encourage them. Such encouragement charges the Medal Gauge and Weapon Arts Gauge a little.

Chat Messages & Emotes

When on a battlefield or in a dungeon, chat messages and emotes can be handy for communicating with other players online. Press and the down D-pad to open the chat settings message window. Press and the left D-pad to open the emote settings window.

Downs & Revivals

When you take damage and your HP is reduced to 0, you’ll be downed, meaning you’ll be unable to continue moving. But fear not! If a party member revives you, you’ll be able to get back on your feet and continue fighting. Approach a downed ally and push the button to revive them. If you and all of your other party members go down, your party will be wiped out.

Wiping Out

If your party is wiped out, you will be sent back to the governor’s office lobby in the SBC Glocken. You’ll still, however, keep the items and experience that you obtained out in the field.

Affinity Changes

As affinity increases, special events with friends can occur and friends might even wear the outfits you give them. Your affinity with others increases when you revive them and return from adventures with them in your party.

Objects Out in the Field

Various objects and devices have been set up in dungeons and out in the field.

Treasure Chests

Treasure chests can contain an assortment of items and weapons, but ones found in dungeons can also be traps that contain enemies, so be careful when opening them!

Contraptions and Traps

Dungeons are often filled with all sorts of contraptions that can both help and hinder your exploration. Some, like switches that open doors and warp gates, are benign, while others, such as traps that damage you and move you to other areas, can be dangerous. Always proceed with caution when navigating dungeons to avoid making simple mistakes.
