Menu

Press the Menu button to display the Pause Menu, which contains the Characters, Quests, Map, Community, and System options.

When you press the Menu button to open the Pause Menu, it’ll display in the upper part of the screen. Other characters will still move around and interact with each other in the game while you’re viewing the Pause Menu.

Characters

In the Characters screen, you can view information pertaining to the characters that are currently in your party. For your character and ArFA-sys unit, this information consists of stats, skills, gadgets, equipment, and items. For all other characters, only their stats will be displayed.

Stats

The stats section displays a character’s stat build. In total, there are six types of stats that are displayed on the left side of the screen, all of which are listed below. When you and your ArFA-sys unit level up, you’ll both earn CP (Customization Points) that can be freely spent on each stat type to increase them however you see fit. The right side of the screen displays the character’s equipment, equipped skills for both weapons, gadgets, and weapon proficiency. Press the button to turn the page and view additional information.

Stat Types

STR: STR affects melee damage, as well as how much weight you can carry and your ability to equip different weapons.
VIT: VIT relates to how well your character can take damage. It affects your maximum HP, defense, and resistance to status ailments.
INT: INT affects skill and gadget effects/recharge times, as well as improves the effects of status ailment attacks.
AGI: AGI affects a number of different things, including movement speed, weapon handling, the steadiness of your Bullet Circle, and defense.
DEX: DEX affects damage dealt by critical attacks and to weak spots, the accuracy of your Bullet Circle, gadget power, and your ability to equip different weapons.
LUC: LUC affects item drop and critical hit rates, defense, and also reduces damage from status ailments.

Skills

The Skills screen is where you can check the skills of your character and ArFA-sys and also learn new ones. Skills are special abilities that are learned according to each weapon type. Each skill costs a certain amount of SP (Skill Points) to unlock once you meet its stat requirements. Each time a skill is used, your proficiency with it improves little by little until it reaches 100%. Once you attain 50% proficiency with a level 1 skill, you can learn the level 2 version of that skill. Similarly, once you reach 100% proficiency with a level 2 skill, you can learn the level 3 version of that skill. However, once a skill has been learned, you have to set it on your character or ArFA-sys with the terminal in your home in order to be able to use it on the battlefield.

Skills & Roles

Your character’s specific role is determined based on the type of skills that you have equipped. There are six roles in total: Assault, Destroyer, Sniper, Engineer, Tank, and Support.

Gadgets

You can check which gadgets you and your ArFA-sys have acquired from the Gadgets screen. Like with skills, as you keep using a gadget, your proficiency with it increases little by little until it reaches 100%. However, once you’ve acquired a gadget, you have to set it on your character or ArFA-sys with the terminal in your home in order to be able to use it on the battlefield.

Equipment

On the Equipment screen, you can check and change you and your ArFA-sys unit’s equipment, which consist of Weapons 1 and 2, an outfit, and two accessories. You can change your current equipment while out on the battlefield except when data is being loaded, a weapon is being used (or otherwise active), or when a weapon is overheating. When you need to change an equipped weapon during battle, it’s recommended that you expedite the process by first removing the weapon before equipping a new one (see page 20).

In total, there are eight weapon types that you can equip. As you use each type, your proficiency will slowly increase, raising that weapon type’s attack strength.

Weapon Types

 Handguns: Although low on power and with limited range, handguns enable you to learn plenty of support abilities for improved healing and buffing. They also allow for high movement speed and quick use of skills.

Shotguns: Despite only having a short range, shotguns can inflict devastating damage when used at close quarters. The shot spread can be used to hit multiple opponents at once.

Submachine Guns: With good power, range, and clip capacity, there are few drawbacks to submachine guns. Simply hold the button down for automatic fire. Lightweight and capable of aiming over a wide area, they’re easy weapons for beginners to handle. Although lacking the power, range, and accuracy of assault rifles, submachine guns weigh less and have a higher rate of fire.

Assault Rifles: With good power, range, and clip capacity, there are few drawbacks to assault rifles. Simply hold the button down for automatic fire, making them easy weapons for beginners to handle. They trump submachine guns in terms of accuracy and range, but are a little on the heavy side.

Sniper Rifles: Sniper rifles come with a scope for picking out enemies from long range. The slow reload speed and poor rate of fire mean you’re best off keeping your distance with a sniper rifle equipped.

Gatling Guns: Slow to warm up and shoot, but possessing high-power, automatic fire, Gatling guns are also prone to overheating. If this happens, you’ll temporarily be unable to fire. Rather than reloading, Gatling guns must be allowed to cool to prevent them from overheating. While firing, it is only possible to walk slowly.

Launchers: The explosive rounds fired from launchers enable you to attack wide areas. Many of them have an extremely limited ammo capacity, a disadvantage that’s more than made up for by the explosive damage they can inflict.

Swords: These powerful weapons can only be used to attack from close range. While extremely difficult to use and therefore best suited for players willing to specialize in them, if you can use them well and avoid getting hit, the unique skills available to swords will allow you to more than hold your own in battle.

Items

Browse the items in your inventory. However, you can only view items that you’re personally carrying. By pressing the right stick, you can lock a selected piece of equipment, preventing you from selling it on accident at a shop.

Quests

View information on the quests you’ve accepted. Quests are divided into five types: Main Quests, Sub Quests, Hunting Quests, Unique Enemy Quests, and Treasure Quests. Selecting a quest will allow you to view details about the quest, including its completion requirements. With the exception of Main Quests, any quest can be abandoned.

Quest Types

Main Quests: Quests tied to the main storyline. They naturally appear as you progress through the story and cannot be abandoned.
Sub Quests: Quests accepted from the Quest Terminal in the governor’s office lobby or from specific individuals.
Hunting Quests: Quests where you hunt down and defeat marks. These can be accepted from PvP squadrons.
Unique Enemy Quests: Quests where you defeat unique monsters. These can be accepted from PvE squadrons.
Treasure Quests: Quests where you search for hidden treasure. These can be accepted from Treasure squadrons.

Map

Shows your current location on the map. On the left side of the screen, the names of each block on the map are displayed (this feature can be turned off by pressing the Button). If you have already been to a certain location, you can select it from the Destination List and Fast Travel there instantly. Fast Travel can also be used on the battlefield, but not while your party is engaged in combat. Furthermore, setting a destination on the map will also make a corresponding marker appear on the field itself.

Community

Add other characters to your party and edit the cards used when interacting with other players online.

Friend List

View players and characters you’ve befriended. A party can have up to four members, including other players.

View Messages from Friends

Select a character from the Friend List and press the button to view messages from that character. Messages can be reviewed any number of times and are not deleted after the first time you open them.

Player Cards

View and edit player cards for trading online.

View

View your player card. Card information spans ten pages and can be navigated by pressing and .

Edit

Edit your player card. Your badge design, Self Introduction, Player Pose, and ArFA-sys Pose can be changed.

Card List

View player cards that you’ve exchanged with other online players.

System

This menu can be used for a variety of functions, including changing game settings, viewing the tutorial, checking the medals you’ve earned, and logging out of the game.

Options

Adjust individual game settings, which are detailed below.

Options

Sound Settings: Set the volume for the music, sound effects, and voices. Each can be set from 0 to 10.

Camera Settings: Adjust the camera speed and rotation direction. The camera rotation speed along both the horizontal and vertical axes for the normal gameplay camera, aiming camera, and scope camera can be individually set from a range of 0 to 100. The Camera X-Axis and Camera Y-Axis can also be set to Normal or Reverse.

Controller Settings: Turn the Controller Vibration on or off and set the control to one of three types, A, B, or C. Additionally, the function of each button can be changed using the Button Customization option.

HUD Settings: Change the settings for the HUD (Heads-up Display). The Display Status, 3D Status Display, 3D Status Display (Enemy), Reticle Display, Mini-Map Orientation, Mini-Map Display, Medals Display, Damage Display, and Log Window Display options can be turned on or off. Additionally, the zoom settings for the mini-map can be set to Far or Normal.

Other Settings: Change various settings such as Screen Brightness (from 0 to 4), Text Speed (from 0 to 4), Subtitles Display (on/off), Difficulty, Send Player Card (on/off), Receive Player Card (on/off), ArFA-sys (Online Co-op) (on/off), and Voice Chat (on/off).

Database

View the tutorials and medals you have earned. The Help section is divided into the Combat, World, System, Menus, and Weapons categories and provide explanations for all of the terms and systems in the game. Medals can be acquired by meeting certain requirements in battle. A large number of medals are available and are divided into Attack Medals, Support Medals, and Weapon Medals. Meeting the specific requirements and earning the corresponding medal will reveal that medal’s name/acquisition requirement.

Log Out

Quit and return to the title screen. Any items and experience you have not saved will be lost. Refer to page 8 for details on the timing of the auto-save feature.
